Do’s and Don’ts for Global Village Dubai with kids this season

We absolutely enjoyed our visit so I thought of writing a few pointers that might help you!

1. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. I almost died watching some mummies in high heels🤦🏻‍♀️.

2. Carry warm jackets- it does get cold later at night.

3. Carry cash with you- ATM’s remain full and it will just waste your time. Most of the stalls don’t have card machine facilities.

4. Avoid standing in ques and purchase tickets online. Kids below 3 are free.

5. I would’nt recommend shopping there as I found almost everything more expensive than the usual. Everything is available at Dragon mart🙈 on lesser prices.

6. Go there and enjoy food and rides! The street stalls having amazing options! Curly chips, churros, Bosnian kebabs, corn – and so much more!

7. Don’t carry too many things for kids along. water and snacks are easily available for regular prices. Stay light as you have to walk alot!

8. Global village starts 4 pm and as it’s fully packed nowadays – reach early to avoid long waiting lines.

9. I’d highly recommend you to pay 50aed for valet parking if you’re with kids- that’s worth spending as you get to park right nearest to the entrance. Life saver! And easy to exit too.

10. It was unfortunate for me to spot a crying lost child that I handed to the security. Please be vigilant! Or put wrist bands with you phone number on kids incase they get lost.

11. Don’t miss the coconut icecream guys! It was so yummy!

12. Pavilion wise- still didn’t get a chance to see all- but Africa is not to be missed!

If you’re visiting UAE- pls don’t miss going to the global village- you need an entire day for it!

Bhindi Sabzi Masala

We love making vegetable curries! Bhindi ( okra) is our all time favorite sabzi – and I like mine with lots of tomatoes !! This is my recipe which requires little oil as I don’t believe in deep frying the bhindi. The reason our ami’s fried bhindi was to remove the sticky lace from it- but hey!! Here’s a hack! Squeeze in some lemon juice and viaola- no lace in there.

-Oil 1 tbs

-Bhindi (Okra) ½ kg

-Onion Sliced 2- 3

– Garlic Chopped 1 tbs ( I usually do this andaze se$

-Hari mirchien – 2-3 chopped

-Tomatoes Chopped 2-3

-Namak to taste

-Haldee powder to taste

– Coriander powder ½ tsp

-Lal mirch powder (Red chilli powder) 1 tsp or to taste

-Lemon juice 1-2 tbs

-Qasuri methi (Dried fenugreek leaves) ¼ tsp

-Hari mirch (Green chilies) 2-3

-Hara dhania (Green coriander)


-In pan,add little oil,okra and fry for 4-5 minutes – squeeze in the lemon juice – and set aside.

-In the same pan,add 2 tbsp oil and onion,fry until translucent.

-Add garlic and green chilis ,mix well.

-Add tomatoes,salt,turmeric powder,coriander powder,cumin powder,red chili powder, red chilies and mix well until tomatoes are soft. ( achaye se bhono) – you will get that aroma- ahh

-Add stir fried okra and mix well.

-Add dried fenugreek leaves,green chilies,green coriander – give it some dam- and serve hot with rotis!

Chicken and veggie bites

With toddler and even older kids- sometimes something very simple works! Especially in their food journey- as mums we go nutter planning and making food and then they won’t even touch it!

But hey! I’ve got a recipe that worked for me and on huge demand I’m sharing the recipe here!! Do try and let me know! It’s great for lunch boxes – quick and simple!


1/2 kg boneless chicken breast

3-4 boiled potatoes

3 Carrots – (peeled and steamed)

One cup of peas ( steamed- soft)

Few florest of steamed broccoli ( optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 egg

Fresh bread crumbs- around 2 cups.


1. Boil the chicken breast with little salt and some black peppercorns until soft. TIP: Don’t discard the broth -( I used it later for my sauce) you can even add it in rice or freeze for later use.)

2. Mash the boiled potatoes along with the carrots , peas and broccoli.

3. Shread the chicken well- I used chopper for a better texture. Add it in the veggies.

4. Add salt and pepper to taste. If your kid likes a little more flavor- add some garam masala too.

5. That’s all! Make shapes such as balls, flat kebabs, fingers- anything your kid would have fun eating- dip it in egg and then coat in bread crumbs- fry in little olive oil- ( pan fry is fine- I avoid deep frying)

(Tip: make the batch of bites- dip in egg and crumbs and freeze. Once they are set place them in a bag for freezer! )

6. Serve them with cucumber, cherry tomatoes, pulao, french fries, roti or just plain-

I’m talking right now to you moms who are in your late 20’s to early/mid 30’s. You have kids. Likely two, three, maybe four of them. They probably range in age from newborns to 7 or 8 year-olds. Give or take a few years.

In this stage of life, you are dealing with exhaustion. Mental, physical, and emotional.

In this stage of life, you are dealing with teething. With ear infections. With stomach viruses. You are juggling nap schedules, and feeding schedules and soccer schedules. A million balls you are juggling, and you probably feel like you are dropping most of them.

In this stage of life, you are dealing with guilt.

Guilt over having a career, and not spending enough time with your kids, or guilt over staying home with your kids, and not doing enough to contribute financially.

Guilt over being too harsh with your kids. Too lenient.

Guilt that your house is clean, but your kids were ignored, or guilt that you enjoyed your children all day, and now your husband is coming home to filth.


In this stage of life, you are bombarded daily with a whole host of decisions. Some of them life changing, some of them not. None of them with clear cut answers.

Do I vaccinate my kids?

Do I not?

Do I send them to public school? Homeschool?Charter school?

Do I continue to breastfeed?

Do I blow the budget so that I can buy all organic?

Do I force my child to apologize, even though the apology will be insincere?

You don’t know the answers to ANYTHING, but you feel constant pressure to figure out EVERYTHING.

This stage of life is less and less about watching your friends get married and have babies, and more and more about standing by and witnessing your friends struggle in their marriage, and even get divorced. It’s a stage where you’ve got to put in the time and the effort and the work and the energy to make sure your OWN marriage stays healthy. And that’s good, but it’s hard, too.

At this point, you or someone you know has experienced infertility. Miscarriages. Loss of a child.

It’s a stage where you are buying houses, selling houses, remodeling houses, packing up houses. And then you do it all again a few years later.

It’s a stage where your hormones are all of of whack. I mean, you’ve basically been pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding for the last ten years, right?

It’s a stage where you are struggling with identity. Is my entire identity “mommy”? Is there anything even left of me that isn’t about mothering? Is there something more glamorous I could have/should have done with my life? I LOOK like a mom now, don’t I? I totally do.

It’s a stage where you are on a constant quest for balance, and can never find it.

It’s a stage of life where you are overloaded. Constantly.

You are overloaded with questions. Your children never stop asking them.

You are overloaded with touch. Someone is constantly wanting to be held, holding on to you, hanging on you, touching you.

You are overloaded with to-do’s. There is so much to do. It never ends.

You are overloaded with worry.

You are overloaded with THINGS. Your kids have way too many toys.

You are overloaded with activities.

You are overloaded with THOUGHTS (thoughts about how to not be so overloaded, perhaps?).

It’s hard.

So….what do you need to do to survive it all?

You need to ask for help.

You need to accept help when it’s given.

You need to not neglect your marriage.

You need to put your kids down for bed early. Sit outside on the back porch with your husband, drink a cup of tea, and have a conversation.

You need girlfriends.

You need your mom.

You need older friends, who have been there and done that. Who can reassure you that you AREN’T screwing it all up as badly as you think you are.

You need to not feel bad about using your kids nap time every now and again to just do whatever the heck you want.

You need to lower your expectations….then probably lower them again.

You need to simplify. Simplify every single part of your life, as much as it can be simplified.

You need to learn how to say “no”.

You need to practice contentment

You need to be ok leaving your kids overnight, and going away somewhere. Anywhere.

You need to do something you enjoy, every day, even if it’s for no more than 15 minutes.

You need to pray and make dua. GIRL, YOU NEED TO PRAY!

You need a coffee you love, a book you love, and a bubble bath that you love.

Finally, and maybe most importantly, you need to remember that…..

….this stage of life is beautiful, too. Like, really really beautiful.

This is the stage of life where every single older person you ever meet tells you, “you’re going to miss this”. And you already know it’s true.

It’s the stage where your kids love you more than they are EVER going to love you again, for the whole rest of your life.

It’s the stage where they can fit their entire selves into your lap to snuggle…and they actually want to. It’s the stage where their biggest problems ARE ear infections and teething and stomach viruses, and you’re not having to deal yet with things like broken hearts or addiction or bullying.

It’s the stage where you are learning to love your spouse in an entirely different….harder…..better…. way.

The stage where you are learning together, being stretched together, shedding your selfishness together, and TRULY being made into “one”.

It’s the stage where you get to see Ramadan & Eid through your kids eyes, and it’s so much more fun and magical than it would be just through your own eyes.

It’s the stage where you get to watch your parents be grandparents…and they’re really good at it.

It’s the stage of life filled with field trips, class parties, costumes, swim lessons, bubble baths, dance parties, loose teeth, and first steps. And those things are so fun.

It’s the stage where you are young enough to have fun, and old enough to have obtained at least SOME wisdom.

So just remember, even though this is a tough season of life (MAN is it hard) It’s SUCH a great stage. Remember to see the beauty, even in the struggles.”

Recipe: Carrot Cake

If you follow my blog, you would know my love for chaye- a good chaye- paki hoye, doodh pati kind- and a slice of warm cake with it , makes my world go round and round with happiness😬

I Absolutely LOVE carrot cakes, mainy because they’re not very sweet( atleast I like them that way) , I can add my best friends – NUTS and PECANS in them and ofcourse who doesn’t like a cinnamon kick – cmonnnnn!😎

So I’m sharing my secret recipe today tried many times , always a hit! However – this time I swapped cake flour with whole wheat flour (aata) and it came out delicious! You can either use normal flour or experiment with mine using ata too. It will definitely be yummy!

The best part is- you absolutely don’t need any fancy equipments for this cake! Just bowls, a whisk and spatula are all that’s needed for the cake itself. It comes together really quickly. Simply whisk the dry ingredients together, whisk the wet ingredients together then combine. Add carrots and nuts( optional) and you’re done.

Super Moist and yummy Carrot Cake

Makes 12-24 cupcakes

Or 9 inch double layer cake – 16-22 slices

( if you want a smaller one, just half all the ingredients-)


  • 1 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat ata
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 cups canola or other vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups grated peeled carrots (5 to 6 medium carrots)
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans and walnuts (optional)


1. Heat the oven to 180 degree ( about 20 min ) Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line the bottom with parchment paper then grease the top of the paper. Or, grease and flour the bottom and sides of both pans. ( it ensures the cake to come out clean!)

2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and the cinnamon until well blended. In a separate bowl, whisk the oil, sugars and vanilla. Whisk in eggs, one at a time, until blended.

3.Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl then add the dry ingredients in 3 parts, stirring gently ( not too much) until they disappear.

4. Grate the carrots and dust some flour onto them. This ensures carrots to be preset equal around the cake and not sink at the bottom! You will thank me for this tip! Like this👇🏼- add into the batter with nuts.

5. Divide the batter between the prepared cake pans. Bake until the tops of the cake layers are springy when touched and when a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean; 35 to 45 minutes. ( if you’re baking half of these ingredients – a single pan is good)

Cool cakes in pans for 15 minutes then turn out onto cooling racks, peel off parchment paper and cool completely.

I don’t like the cream cheese frosting , as I enjoy the cake like this- but if you’re a frosting fan please go ahead!♥️

I made the frosting a long time ago and that’s what it looked it.
