Do’s and Don’ts for Global Village Dubai with kids this season

We absolutely enjoyed our visit so I thought of writing a few pointers that might help you!

1. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. I almost died watching some mummies in high heels🤦🏻‍♀️.

2. Carry warm jackets- it does get cold later at night.

3. Carry cash with you- ATM’s remain full and it will just waste your time. Most of the stalls don’t have card machine facilities.

4. Avoid standing in ques and purchase tickets online. Kids below 3 are free.

5. I would’nt recommend shopping there as I found almost everything more expensive than the usual. Everything is available at Dragon mart🙈 on lesser prices.

6. Go there and enjoy food and rides! The street stalls having amazing options! Curly chips, churros, Bosnian kebabs, corn – and so much more!

7. Don’t carry too many things for kids along. water and snacks are easily available for regular prices. Stay light as you have to walk alot!

8. Global village starts 4 pm and as it’s fully packed nowadays – reach early to avoid long waiting lines.

9. I’d highly recommend you to pay 50aed for valet parking if you’re with kids- that’s worth spending as you get to park right nearest to the entrance. Life saver! And easy to exit too.

10. It was unfortunate for me to spot a crying lost child that I handed to the security. Please be vigilant! Or put wrist bands with you phone number on kids incase they get lost.

11. Don’t miss the coconut icecream guys! It was so yummy!

12. Pavilion wise- still didn’t get a chance to see all- but Africa is not to be missed!

If you’re visiting UAE- pls don’t miss going to the global village- you need an entire day for it!

.

Am I missing anything? What would your list of recommendation be like for others- food to try? Activities? Pavilion?

Welcoming Ramadan with toddlers

I keep editing this particular banner onto a countdown to Ramadan! Yes we’re almost a month away now and inshAllah will be entering the most beautiful and blessed month of all- Ramadan.

This will be even more special for me as after 2 years – I will be fasting all inshAllah- no more breastfeeding 😁!!

Also- Nayel is 2 now and he has started to comprehend and understand things around him! So I’m super excited to celebrate Ramadan with him! If you’re thinking how with a toddler, let me take you through onto our first mini planning and I pray these might be helpful for you with kids at home too:)

1. Decorating the house:

We do birthdays and weddings, and we see alot of Halloween, Christmas and Diwali set up around, why not Ramadan? Make it fun with your kids and set up your home. Older the kids , more the fun. Balloons, banners, laterns, calender , DIY Ramadan crafts- make it interesting for kids! It’s the most beautiful time for bonding as a family for us Muslims! 2. Create a personalized pray area:

Google and Pinterest are right on our tips now and I have seen so many cute ideas for little masjid at home for kids! If you can go fancy , great ! If not- even handmade charts, keeping prayer mats, puting up lights and telling kids this is their own little home masjid would make a great difference. Imagine how they love their doll houses or play pens- this will be a special place for them to sit and do their Ramadan crafts or for you to pray with them.

3. Celebrate everyday’s little things:

Talk about Ramadan with your kids. Tell them what it is, watch cartoons that is related in teaching them about Ramadan. Take them for grocery shopping for Ramadan to involve them. Be it as simple as choosing dates and rooh afza or asking for Dua together before iftar. Tell them to dress up nicely, stay clean and about doing good deeds.

4. Wishing Ramadan:

On the night of 1st Ramadan, get them to call or message family member with you. Make videos and voice notes as families to send across wishing and praying for everyone. Take memorable pictures! Make cards, buy little gifts for family and friends and personally go and wish:)- you need to show and create enthusiasm so they get in that mood. It will stay with them forever ❤️

5. Books and Crafts:

There are so many books on Ramadan available now, get them and read with your kids. Talk about different cultures and tell them what people do in Ramadan around the globe. Take out activities from books for kids to enjoy. Be it colouring, making crafts or learning new words. You will find endless options on the Internet!

Let’s pray this Ramadan brings happiness and peace across the globe and make us a good muslim example to lead for our kids.

Gymtastic Time at My Gym

What an experience Nayel and Mummy had last week at My Gym! It’s a children fitness centre that has programs to facilitate kids from 3 month old to about 13 years old.

I wanted to have a structured physical activity for Nayel and Kidzapp helped me choose ‘My Gym’ for him. We booked a day session and walked in about 10 am. A clean place with different rooms for activities. Currently they’re running their Spring and Easter camps offering Arts n crafts, My Gym fitness, dance classes, Zumba, yoga , cooking and many more.

I wanted to experience their classic- Gyming Time – hence we headed into their gym studio.

A huge indoor room with different sections- a coloured ball pit, soft flooring, slides, swings, trampoline and different bars around along with an extra empty space where they host classes.

As a parent, you must be thinking – why My Gym?

That because children have loads of fun as they gain strength, balance, coordination, agility and flexibility while developing social skills, confidence and self-esteem in their everyday activities.

Nayel went crazy in their balls pit- jumping and playing with other kids. Next he spotted the slide- where at-least 10 times in a go- he went up and down! 😂- I just stood there watching him.

Soon the session began and I was so happy to see parents involved with their little ones! My Gym runs different activities each week and in one session around 4-5 new activities to keep kids involved and enthusiastic!

Our carefully constructed programs are constantly analyzed and adjusted according to up-to-the-minute advances in medical and psychological research. My Gym’s main objectives are to ensure that program ingredients are safe, age-appropriate and optimal for building self-esteem- My Gym

These are their different classes- My Gym offers Parent Participation classes and Independent classes too:

You can find all about it on:

www.mygymuae.com

We experienced their Gymster class where it was all about working on fine and gross motor ability and coordination via jumping , running, swinging, balancing and focusing !

Nayel enjoyed their swings the most! They had a plank to help kids balance and cross it! What a fun one!

After all the physical focusing activities- to calm kids down, they had a red circle play time where kids got toys and puzzles to play with and interact with other kids while parents stood outside the circle. This was to develop their social skills and independence.

The last part of the session had a puppet reading time.

What a rollercoaster experience for Nayel! He came home and slept for hours- tired and happy! ❤️

.

Please check their website on the list of prices and class schedules.

My verdict- super fun and challenging for kids ! It’s good to take out their underutilized energy in a fun way! I’d recommend parents to experience this with their kids!

Also download Kidzapp to keep you updated with upcoming camps and activities with MyGym!

Pjs all day!

I posted this comforting quote that reflects me and all the mommies a few days back and it connected me to such a cute brand! Three cheers for ‘

‘Peach Blossoms!’

As I write this post, I’m sitting in their cute ‘floral fancy pajamas’ sipping my tea. Yes they have names for all their prints! The material is soft cotton which is a leisure to skin. I’m wearing their small size and the best part, it’s not fitted! There’s a lot of room to breathe and looks stylish at the same time! I like lounge wear to be loose and easy! The stitching is very neat with detailed pipping all around. Oh there’s a cute pocket too! 😍

Peach blossom bring you cozy , fun and comfy/ night-wears and lounge wears with super funky prints and designs.

The label is a niche of comfort! I love brands that have a story behind- a personal one perhaps and thus I’m happy to share with you the thought behind Peach blossom.

The brand says that they came up with the concept out of the frustration! So the woman behind it says:

I personally felt whenever I would be out in the malls looking for comfortable lounge wear for myself, I always felt that I had to compromise between either boring, tacky pajama suits or riské lingerie. And while there are a few limited options from some retailers, the variety is often limited or very price inhibitive.

Peach Blossom is the lounge wear for the fun-loving, cozy tea-drinking, relaxed Friday-morning women aged 18 to 45 who like to look good even on their “Me” days and feel comfortable in what they’ve got on.

Isn’t that great!!

All Peach Blossom products are proudly made here in the U.A.E. They have been online for just a couple of weeks so far with new collections/prints/styles rolling out every couple of weeks.

And guess what! I’m giving my followers a 10%discount too!! So hurry to the site and use the code : frommummytonayel to grab your favorite pajama set !

A picture says a thousand words..

I can’t tell you guys how much I’m enjoying my current blog series to feature amazing inspirational mums here in the UAE! So my 3rd one is the very talented ‘Scheherazade Safwan’ – A mum to two year old little girl.

Last week, I met her at the La mer beach- the new beautiful and happening area in Dubai for a small photo shoot. One thing that I learnt about her – she is extremely good with kids and super patient as Nayel made her run after him all over the place! 😝😬 Despite him being a typical toddler, Scheherazade clicked beautiful pictures of him and some for us together too !!

So I interviewed her for you guys to learn more on who she is what she offers.

1. Can you tell us something about yourself?

I’ve always been the creative type and wanted to study architecture, but an ‘istikhara’ sealed my fate and I ended up being an engineer, ha! After graduation, I got interested in DSLRs and photography, and when I got a job I bought my very first camera, a Canon 40D. A couple of years, lots of self-study and loads of bad photos later, I finally felt I was good enough to start my Facebook page and charge money for my photos! It has been an uphill battle since then but mashallah all the hard work is now paying off!

2. Why Photography?

My friend got a DSLR and the quality of photos her camera was taking blew me away (she is an amazing street photographer!). So for me, initially photography meant striving to take good quality photos and learning as much as I could about my camera. Google was great for this but I also took a few classes to round up my knowledge.
I started a 1 object, 365 days project where I had a toy figure, lovingly called ‘The Creep’, lol, and I would take 1 photo of this toy for 365 consecutive days!! It was tough coming up with new ideas every day and I quit after 62 days but it was the best thing ever in terms of learning the rules of photography. I would come home from office, tired, but ready for another chapter in Creep’s life! The storytelling part was fun too.
I decided to start a 52 weeks project on Facebook after that (www.facebook.com/52weeksproject), where I would take 1 photo every week for a whole year, which was definitely much less demanding on my time. This was my first ‘page’ and I loved watching other photographers participate. Ultimately the page grew to 2000+ people and mashallah we are now in our 6th year and going strong!
‘100 Strangers’ was another project that I started way back in 2011. For this, I had to approach random strangers and ask them if I could take their portraits and chitchat with them about their life. This was very interesting for two reasons. One, I was and still am an introvert but the project helped me to be more comfortable in the company of strangers. Two, it showed me the kind of photography I wanted to do and excel at, which was portrait and family.
So I believe what started as a mere hobby, shaped into a freelance career that I thoroughly enjoy because of the projects I took up in my early years!

3. How do you manage your amazing work with home and your daughter?
Oh, that’s easy! I’m able to manage it all because of my incredible husband who never shies away from taking care of our daughter and supports me in every possible way. That’s how it should be and that’s how it is 😀

4. What are some of the packages that you offer?

I am currently taking bookings for all kinds of family shoots including wedding, anniversary, birthday, newborn, maternity, cake smash etc. I also dabble in fashion photography and model portfolio shoots and am open to collaborations with makeup artists, models and designers as well. Clients can contact me directly on call/WhatsApp at +971-553632979.
5.  What message would you like to give to other fellow mums?
I’d say, I know first hand the laziness and apathy a mum can experience after childbirth and how difficult it is to take out time for your interests, and how easy it is to just complain about how you don’t have time to do anything other than raising good, God-fearing children. But there’s lots of time! Let your house be a bit messy occasionally and utilize the free time to pursue something that makes you truly happy. It doesn’t necessarily have to be something that would earn you money. It just has to make you proud of yourself! And of course, a happy mum means she’s not going to be nagging at the kids and the husband all day long…or is she hmmm? Haha!

Thank you so much Scheherzade for such beautiful captures!!

For anyone who is interested to book her- please contact her directly on her number mentioned above . She is super reasonable as compared to many in Dubai! You can also find her on instagram and facebook:

Happy snapping and preserving memories!!

Until next time with another amazing mum!!
