Weaning 101 continues..

Making Nayel’s food combinations is one of the most fun things about cooking homemade baby foods. He is 11 months old and I love trying out different kinds of brightly coloured and distinctive tastes vegetables and fruits. For example the other day we tried dragon fruit! He made such a funny face with its blank taste! Clearly didn’t like it. Everyday’s a new day with baby N food. I read a lot about weaning and try something or the other! Which brings me to share some interesting things I experiment with N. I’m not a very pro baby led weaning mommy but I do have days where I let N enjoy his time with it. Of course this means more hassle, much messier baby and lots of scrubbing!

One of things that I let him eat on his own are avocados 🥑 . Have a look what actually happens! 🙈

But I can’t tell you how much I enjoy this! So does N.Here he was able to eat some of it and ofcourse mostly was squished in his tiny hands, some on the baby chair tray, other on the wall next to him🙃. We had a long long bath time after this.

Baby lead weaning has many hidden advantages of course. For one, it helps fine-tune motor development: Baby-led weaning supports the development of eye-hand coordination, chewing skills, and promote healthy eating habits, it also offers babies an opportunity to explore the taste, texture, aroma, and color of a variety of foods.

So I give Nayel that opportunity ONLY when I have a lot of free time! 😎

Other times its mostly mama led weaning.

Here are a few things that helped me to set up his eating routine:

✅ I make him eat with us at the dinning table. This way he is learning eating time. Mostly now the same food that we are eating like if I have cooked chicken, I wash some of the pieces and mash them with steamed vegetables or rice for him. Vegetable , chickpeas , humos , fish , khichri all are our co sharing options!

✅ lunch time is mostly the vegetables fruits puree so that I know he has had a punch of some vitamins there! If we are out, Ella’s pouches are our best friend.

✅for breakfast- its one day egg one day multigrain and oats cereal. He is not coming upto my egg-spectations of loving egg, so I give him that as a hidden gem in other ways😶🙄

✅ sadly I pad- chu chu Tv and simple learning songs are what really makes it easier for me to feed Nayel 🙈 ( don’t judge me please).

Weaning is not an easy task. Its very challenging! Everyday its a new story. There’s no fix to it. In the end nothing really matters – all a mum really cares about is a happy tummy filled child! ( little should you ask how☺️☺️).
Ending this one with another N’s fav puree recipe.
